The School of Materials Science and Engineering has a total of 41 faculty members, including 10 full professors. The total value of the equipment has reached 10 million RMB with 56% of the total value in large equipment. Materials Physics and Chemistry is a major discipline in Tianjin.?Graduates are well received by companies – as seen in an annual employment rate of over 90%. The school has a teaching staff of 64 including 12 professors. There are currently 1,627 full-time students. Over the past three years, the school has set up the major discipline of Physical Electronics, and the major developing discipline of Communication and Information System.
The school features modern electronics and technology, telecommunication technology, advanced instruments, chip design and photo electronical information technology. It has established a cooperative relationship with Motorola, Freescale, Tianjin Zhonghuan Electronic Information Group and built student training grounds. 4. School of Electrical Engineering:
Electrical Engineering School has more than 100 teaching staff, 43 teachers with senior professional titles,43 teachers have Master or PhD degree. Control Theory and Control Engineering is Tianjin’s major discipline. The Industrial Intelligent Control Application Center is the technology application center, authorized by the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission. Electrical & Automatic Engineering and Network Control Center is the municipality’s first-rate lab. The school hosts cooperative projects with many corporations and through great efforts, has won the provincial technological prize 7 times and second prize in teaching research. ?The School pays special attentions to course construction and scientific research, and not only builds new experimental labs with good facilities, but also encourages and supports students in extracurricular activities, thus making them competitive in engineering and associated management field. Programs of the School of Management provide four key areas such as management, economics, literature and engineering. There are 2000 undergraduate students and 300 postgraduate students enroll in studies taken from 8 distinct undergraduate and 6 postgraduate degree programs. 7. School of Mechanical Engineering:
In this School, there are 90 faculty members (full and associate professors) devoted to teaching and doing research for the “863 National Science Projects”, State Natural Science Foundation Project, and various international cooperation research projects. Two of Tianjin’s major developed and developing disciplines are Mechatronics Control and Automation, and Mechanical Engineering and Automation. There are three research centers: CAD, CAM, and CAE engineering. Students are able to conduct high-level research under an advanced management system at these centers. The school has set up many training areas around the country, a couple being at Jinan First Machine Tool Ltd., and Dongfang Electrical Machinery, Ltd.

The School of Environmental and Safety Engineering has a 33 member faculty including 6 professors, and 6 associate professors. There are also six doctors and six doctoral candidates in the school. 9. School of Transportation:
The School of Transportation was set up in 1986. It is the only school which offers advanced education for Transport and Transportation Management in Tianjin. It is also a member of the International Association of Maritime Union (IAMU). The school has advanced simulators and real machines, such as GMDSS, Navigation, marine engineering and radar. This year, the total number of undergraduates has risen to 687. The School of Transportation strictly obeys IMO terms, STCW78/95 common divisor and ISO9000 system. The “Quality Control System of Sailor Education and Training” provides advanced education to train students’ learning and management abilities. The school has established good relationships with corporations to set up practice areas for students. Graduates from the school have all had a100% success rate in finding employment. With economic globalization and China entry into the WTO, there has been an ever-increasing demand for bright new international talent. The International College of Business & Technology (ICBT) has been established as a special school which operates in cooperation with well-known overseas universities. The college introduces high-quality educational resources, imports the latest foreign school operating concepts and original textbooks, and incorporates modern university management modules and evaluation systems. ICBT is also characterized by adopting teaching plans and curriculums which have been agreed upon with the foreign universities, as well as inviting foreign professors to teach alongside Chinese faculty members. The College of Science has a total of 84 faculty members, including 10 full professors and 1 visiting professor, from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Faculty members undertake teaching duties in Mathematics, Physics and Physics experiments for undergraduate and graduate students as well as engage in research which includes various national science projects. The college’s Physics Lab is held as one of the finest in Tianjin. The Photo Electronical Display Materials and Devices Lab is a major lab with Material Physics and Chemistry a major discipline in Tianjin.

The College puts emphasize on theory, learning and engineering practice. The 3000sq.m.Open Lab, an important innovation of the College, is available for students who are interested in doing experimental research. The College puts special emphasis on training the creative spirit for students, encouraging them to participate in research work while laying a solid foundation of mathematics and physics, especially in the area of information science.
